Southern Right Whale

Southern Right Whale These huge baleen whales have an enormous lower lip that encloses the long, delicate baleen plates that are attached to their arching upper jaw. Their heads are very large, as are their flippers; their backs are broad, and they have no dorsal fin. Also characteristic of this family are the callosities - raised, whitish patches of thick rough skin, like giant warts - that grow on their head and chin. Like all baleen whales, they have two blowholes. You can see Southern Right Whales around the coasts when they migrate from Antarctica to Australia during the winter for breeding.
Cassowary

Cassowary The Southern Cassowary is a resident of the north-eastern rainforests of Queensland. It stands 5-6 feet high and is easily recognized by the tall, bony helmet, or casque, on the top of its head; by its vivid blue bare neck and face; and by its red lower back neck. Its heavy body is covered in shinning black plumes, and pink wattles hang from the lower front of its neck. Its legs are stocky and its feet have three toes, the inner one in the form of a spike. Cassowaries are mainly solitary and appear to be territorial.
